The Old Police Station is an artist-run project in the form of a propositional 'do-it-yourself art centre'. It is an experimental cultural and economic model that aims at least for economic self-sufficiency.

Laden with police processes and signage, the facility is an archaeology of institutional structures with period rooms, cinematic prison cells, an old gym and operations yard. This architectural infrastructure houses over 40 studios, multiple gallery and rehearsal rooms, independent project spaces, 24hr on-line radio station, Tea Rooms open Mon-Fri, the social hub of the building, Dirty Cop Fridays (last Friday of every month social club) and Pagan/Russian/Fetish Supper Clubs in the prison cells...

Started in Feb 2009, the old police station is a finite 7 year project. Now, in it's second year, the concept has grown to include a curatorial consortium, nomadic and occasional international project spaces, a total music creation/performance/broadcast scenario, TV production filming and pop video locations. Curated exhibition opportunities are slowly developing as the suite of spaces - The Interview Room + Bar + Cells - become a tight working infrastructure for activity of all kinds ranging from live theatre, art cocktails, student shows, supper clubs to international screening and curation.

Please submit your proposal to the do-it-yourself art centre: we regularly host 2 week exhibitions as well as one off events so please get in touch.
